Vancouver, BCPlug your iPhone into your bag? Evolve, a North Vancouver based business says, why not?

These business satchels and totes designed by two young, Chicago entrepreneurs are greatly appealing the Canadian, urban business person.

Noon Solar bags, as the brand is called, are designed to charge cellphones, Blackberrys, PDAs,  and iPods through a hip-looking, flexible solar panel on the side of the bag.  The rest of the bag is of undeniable quality made of high-quality leather and dyed with natural dyes that meet the eco-friendly approval.

“These bags are not only attractive they are super useful. Just face the bag towards the sun while you are walking around or put it in your office window and you are charging your bag.  It takes a few hours, however if you don’t have the time, it comes with an adapter to plug into the wall so you can charge your device later in the day or whenever you need to,” said Lori Simcox, co-owner of Evolve, a North Vancouver company.

“These bags are great for business travelers too,” says Heidi George, Evolve co-owner.  “Inside the bag is a small battery that stores the power and the bag comes with tips for the most popular cell phones… any other tips needed can be purchased at local electronic stores for a few dollars.”

Although they don’t charge laptops, most bags will fit laptops as well as files, books and whatever else is being carried to meetings or out on a shopping day.  These bags are currently being sold exclusively at Planet Claire’s in Vancouver, Murmur in Calgary and Spice Safar Toronto.

Evolve will be  launching its new website at a wine and cheese, trunk show being held on February 4st, 2010 at Planet Claire’s from 4 pm to 8pm  in Vancouver’s Gastown.  They will be showcasing the newest Noon Solar bags for spring and will be offering a 10% discount on bags purchased that evening.  All are welcome, but get there early.
