Doll Parts: Porcelain Treasures of a Grim Collector
This show was part theatrical production, part fashion show, all spectacle!
Inspired by the artwork of Vancouver artist Megz Majewski (her art can be found at Planet Claire and wwwdeadkittie.com), two of my favourite people, Kat & Aaron, collaborated with myself, Flaming Angels Boutique and New World Designs. Choosing outfits from the three stores and doing a photo shoot with them, Megz spent 6 months creating original paintings based from those photos. She did 2 per store, making 6 doll portraits. They were unveiled at the November 19th show, after a fashion show and burletta.
It was an amazing effort, with close to 40 models, 20 makeup artists, and various performers (most notably Aaron Morris as the Collector and Rosie Delight as Claire). The photos are incredible, as were the models and everyone involved. After the show, Aaron proposed to Kat on stage, to her (and our) complete surprise. Tears were shed. All in all it was a deliciously dark and magical night!
